Lady Bison took their third win of the season from George Washington.

The Lady Bison once again won a big game on the road this time at the Charles E. Smith Center against George Washington. The game started like others this season, with the Bison leading 22-18 in the first quarter. GW made shots and matched the Lady Bison’s energy, keeping it close. With about 3 minutes left in the second quarter, both teams played tougher defense, leading to back-and-forth scoring.

The third quarter started as fiercely as the end of the first half, with the Lady Bison playing aggressively and focused. Their defense caused turnovers, and they quickly turned them into points. Howard won the game 62-60, despite George Washington outscoring them 11-7 in the fourth quarter. Howard’s early lead and key plays kept them just ahead. Although George Washington finished strong with good defense and scoring, it wasn’t enough to beat Howard’s consistent effort and clutch plays. The Lady Bison showed balance, shooting 41.2% from the field and making 15 of 16 free throws. They grabbed 27 rebounds, close to George Washington’s 29, showing the game’s physical intensity.

Their defense played a critical role in determining the final outcome, with George Washington forcing 19 turnovers compared to Howard’s 11, which effectively translated into valuable possessions and scoring opportunities. However, as the guard play emphasized throughout the contest, the momentum gradually shifted, and the game eventually became Howard’s to control. Nevertheless, the Lady Bison will soon realize that prioritizing offensive decision-making based on high-percentage scoring opportunities, rather than reacting solely to defensive pressure, will be essential. This important adjustment could significantly improve their shot selection and overall offensive efficiency moving forward.

Zennia Thomas led the offense with strong post play, while #24 added 15 points and 7 rebounds, showing consistency. Nile Miller’s 11 points and 3 rebounds boosted the Bison’s effort. The team’s combined effort effectively managed offense and defense. The Lady Bison’s steady performance under pressure secured another important road win, reflecting their growth and determination this season.

Both sides were well coached, showcasing strategic adjustments and disciplined execution throughout the game. We even saw Associate Head Coach Brian Davis hop into the hot seat to draw up some magic, demonstrating his ability to make critical in-game decisions that kept the team competitive and energized. His timely interventions played a key role in shaping the flow and intensity of the matchup. The next game is at Elon in NC on Saturday November 15th, 2025
